Website speed optimisation makes your site load faster by compressing images, caching pages, reducing scripts and removing unused code. A trained web assistant runs the checks and fixes, and a team lead reviews the result.
Website speed optimisation makes your site load faster: smaller images, pages served from cache, fewer scripts blocking the browser, and code with no unused weight. A trained web assistant audits and fixes the site. A team lead reviews the result before handover. You get a before-and-after speed report.
What website speed optimisation covers
A standard engagement starts with an audit and works through each layer that affects load time:
- Baseline audit. Google PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix scores recorded on the home page and two or three key landing pages before any changes.
- Image optimisation. All images on key pages compressed without visible quality loss. Oversized images resized to the dimensions they are displayed at. Next-gen formats (WebP) added where supported.
- Page caching. A caching plugin configured (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, W3 Total Cache or similar) so returning visitors and bots are served a stored copy rather than waiting for PHP to rebuild the page.
- CSS and JavaScript minification. Whitespace, comments and unused characters removed from stylesheets and scripts to reduce file sizes.
- Render-blocking scripts. Scripts that block the browser from drawing the page deferred or loaded asynchronously where safe to do so.
- Unused plugins and scripts removed. Scripts loaded sitewide from plugins that are only needed on one page, or from plugins no longer in use, removed or restricted to the pages that need them.
- Core Web Vitals check. Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift reviewed and improvements noted.
- After audit. PageSpeed Insights and GTmetrix re-run. A short report comparing before and after scores, and any remaining recommendations that require server-level access or a hosting upgrade.
What website speed optimisation does not cover by default
Some improvements require server-level access or a hosting change and are outside a standard optimisation engagement:
- Moving to a faster hosting plan or a different server.
- Setting up a CDN (Content Delivery Network) at the DNS level.
- Custom PHP or database query optimisation.
- Redesigning page layouts to reduce DOM complexity.
These can be scoped separately. Your web assistant will flag any server-level bottleneck found in the audit.
Why website speed matters for conversions
Load time affects how many visitors stay long enough to convert. A one-second delay in page load time reduces conversions on ecommerce sites. Google's Core Web Vitals are also used as ranking signals: a slow site that fails Core Web Vitals can rank below a similar site that passes them. For ad campaigns, a faster landing page reduces bounce rate and improves Quality Score on Google Ads.
What website speed optimisation costs
A managed speed optimisation is billed hourly: from $5.62 an hour on a dedicated plan, or $12 an hour pay-as-you-go. Most WordPress and WooCommerce sites take 3 to 8 hours to audit and optimise. Sites with large image libraries or many plugins may take longer. See the website maintenance service, pricing and the website maintenance cost guide.

Frequently asked questions
What does website speed optimisation include?
Image compression, browser caching, page caching setup, CSS and JavaScript minification, removal of unused plugins or scripts, Core Web Vitals check and a before-and-after speed report.
How much does website speed optimisation cost?
A managed website speed service through MyRemoteVA is billed hourly from $5.62 an hour on a dedicated plan, or $12 an hour pay-as-you-go. Most WordPress and WooCommerce sites take 3 to 8 hours to audit and optimise.
How much faster will my site be after optimisation?
Results depend on the starting state, hosting quality and how much unoptimised content exists. Most audited sites improve their Google PageSpeed Insights score by 15 to 40 points. A meaningful speed improvement on a slow site is achievable in one session.
Will website speed optimisation help my SEO?
Yes. Google uses Core Web Vitals (Largest Contentful Paint, Interaction to Next Paint and Cumulative Layout Shift) as ranking signals. A faster site can improve rankings and reduce bounce rate.
What is doing this yourself costing you?
